_Truchet hexagons
‘Truchet’ tiling generally referes to tiling the plane with tiles containing patterns that are rotationally asymmetric. The variety of Truchet tiles I’ve always been drawn to the most are the ones with parity patterns on them—here, hexagons with a decoration that leaves alternating white and black areas at their vertices. As long as they’re arranged in properly offset rotations of 60°, they’ll form continuous shapes of white against black with their neighbors. But any of three rotations will have the correct parity, as this animation demonstrates.
